Utazi leaves can be used as a home remedy for dysentery and intestinal worms. The leaves, when chewed raw or infused with hot water, can act as fast relief for catarrh, congested chest, runny nose, and cough. In Sierra Leone, the pliable stems are used as chewing sticks. It is known as Utazi by the Igbo-speaking parts of eastern Nigeria. This is an herbaceous shrub of the tropical rainforest of the family Asclepiadaceae. It is a climbing shrub up to 5 meters long.
